Predictions of the bill
I think some result will come in the bill sooner or later. if not this year may be next year bill will be passed. Probably most of the immigration provisions will be Amended to get a some releif for everyone. H1 cap may be increased to 115k. No of greencards will not be 650k. may be Double the current number than 650k. There will be strong opposition for big increase of immigration. The reason is lot of americans lost job in IT because of outsourcing and h1s. The impact might be mild as most of them landed in another job as ecomomy slowly improved. If no possiblity of passing the bill it will be killed in 2 or 3 months. On the other hand If delayed for next year the bill will be passed in some form. Bush will try to give relief to illegals before he leaves office.

"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This is mainly caused by the fact that many EB-3 India applicants (there are approximately 60,000 EB-3 India pending cases) are “porting” their priority dates into the EB-2 India category and are thus taking visa numbers.
EB2 India is slowwly becoming EB3 as thousands are porting from EB3 to EB2. Some of them are really worthy of EB2 and some of them are fradulent.
EB2 India applicants should wake up from their celebratio of a few months leap and get ready for slow movement or retro.
Guys wake up and fight to make the porting rules veryu strong if not stop porting. The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicatnt should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. This will make sure that fradulent applicants cannot port from EB3 to EB2.

I'm very glad to hear the news. Let us see when my checks are going to be cashed. By the way, was your 485 packet signed by F.HEINAUER @NSC on July 16th?
I did called NSC IO yesterday and she said that my packet must have been in caught up in the front log.

no photo is required. They might take a photo of you if they think its old. You can take fresh photos if you want but I don't think that you will need it.
Now the next thing. You will definitly be asked and might also be threatened by the US immigration officer when you tell them that you went to canada for landing and you have also applied for US immigration. You can be lucky and might not be asked this question but there is a great possibility that it will be raised. Although there is no law that says you cannot obtain PR for any other country as long as your application for US PR is pending, you will be harassed when you tell them that you are in US on AOS. Remember one thing: DO NOT TELL IO THAT YOU PLAN TO ABANDON CANADIAN PR ONCE YOU GET US PR AS YOU WILL BE COUNTER ASKED THAT YOU HAVE WASTED THE CANADIAN VISA NUMBER AND ALSO PLANNING TO WASTE THE VISA NUMBER AS ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL WOULD'VE GOT THAT. well, really I dont have words to express what frustration means, so be it. my PD is Nov 2003 (original Labor) and filed 485 in June 2004 and have 7 EAD cards thus far.
Started to work on EAD since 2005.
This is my 11th year in this country, never tried to do labor substitution always was and is a legal and law abiding since I came to this country on H1, despite changing jobs been as a developer since then - till now.
This GC process got me grey very soon, unsure if I become bald. This is the state of legal immigration in this country, God bless.
7 EAD's wow :eek:. I am on my third now. Waiting from 2004 does get frustating. Now after hearing yoru situation i will not grumble about my situation.

USCIS should seperate North Indians and South Indians - We are soooo very different anyways ..... Different language - different look - different food ..... That way all of us North Indians will get our GC sooner :D

I also want USCIS to count my legal presence in the US prior to obtaining permanent residency (GC) for naturalization purposes. (Canada does this - 50% credit for time spent legally before obtaining permanent residency).

My 140 was approved in 10 days from TSC and my attorney sent my 485 to TSC (they send the applications to the same ctr where your 140 got approved),my 485 reached on July 2 nd..no receipt yet ,no check cashed yet..
may be we should just wait for another 10 working days.They are still working on June cases(TSC)

in one of the threads its said that all 90 senators had agreed to pass the SKIL as against one who did not (sen sessions) and since lame duck required unanimous voting it cud not, but when the demo's bring it up early next year, they would not need an unanimous vote on it but a majority vote? so statistically it sud get through? how far off am i on this?
