Hi Maag,
I did not land yet. Planning to give away canada PR. Its too much of risk being on AP/EAD. I have too many things on stake in US like Home, Nice Jobs for me and my wife..don't want to risk all that.
As it is i don't think I will ever settle in Canada, i had applied at a time when my US labor was stuck in backlog for almost 5 years but now things have changed and if i ever have to leave US I think I will go back to my home country; as it is after being here for 8 years I don't have energy to start all over again in some new country.
What have you decided? do you know the procedure to get landing fee back?
I am also giving up canada PR, i had also applied at the time my green card process was not moving, also i don't have any job offer as of now in canada, i don't want to leave what's in hand in hope of something similar (can't say better). I don't know procedure to get landing fees back and will soon be working on that.

I am not sure, When I was coming from India I had person with L1 visa came to US without any problem.

when you are able to view the back side of the checks, could you please let us know if they have SRC or LIN for the receipt numbers? That would help lots of users here answer their question about what service center is processing transfer cases...
Its LIN. strangly it says 'we received the case on July 31st, 2007..' I hope the RD is July 2nd and the ND is July 31st.!!??

The DREAM Act is a bipartisan and narrowly-tailored bill that would allow undocumented immigrants who have completed two years of military service or college to petition the Secretary of Homeland Security for legal permanent residency. These individuals are required to have entered the United States prior to their sixteenth birthday, graduated from high school, and lived in the United States for at least five consecutive years.
As the Senate continues to work on the National Defense Authorization Act and its amendments, I will keep your thoughts in mind.

lawsuite and all will never get us to a point where we want. nobody can force
the state department or the USCIS to forcefully accept 700K applications, and then for next 20 years the dates will be struck. specially for people who have been waiting since 2000,2001 and 2002 cannnot be clubed together with people who came in 2006 or 2007, that is going to be fairly injustice and they know that.
I think it will be better to focus our energy on legislative changes or else nothing will get done, no body can push 700K applications down to the throats of USCIS when that have already exausted the quota.
better focus on contacting senators or house members to get some legislative relief.
i dont understand how come the 2000-2001 will be get injustice if USCIS made the dates current . For them to process these new batch atleast it will take 6 months by that time 2000-2001 will be out of BEC and PD rules at that time

Honestly, I did not understand jchan's scenario.
AFIK, none will get affected. Please look for my earlier posts regarding I485 Derivative application pre-requisites.
I am waiting to hear from IV-core's or forum-attorney�s interpretation.
Chan is right. If interpretation will start the way you are proposing, it will be sheer disaster for people who didn't file I-485 yet.
