Problem is not only with the desi companies! If you work for the so called MNC, still you will be exploited. At least if you convince your desi employer that you will work for them for X number of years, they will be ready to help you. Sometimes they will go beyond the legal limits if the get return from you. Not true with MNCs. In the name of abiding the law, the will not help you. I have seen many people work MNCs, just at the verge of getting the GC, they got laid off! No need for me to tell what happened to his GC.
So in my opinion the best way to get your GC is go thru the blood suckers! That is the price you have to pay to become citizen of this "Land of Opportunity".

If the Skil bill gets approved in the senate, when is it going to come to effect? Will the Cap increase for this year oct1 2006 to sept 31st 2007. And for the students who have already recieved their OPTs, will their OPT duration increase to 24 month? The bill for doubling of H1bs, is it the same as the SKil bill or a different one? when is that coming to effect?

See , they started the 3 yr H1B extension only on basis of Retrogression...
and only if you have a approved 140... My Labor was more than 365 days old, so i got couple of 1 yr extension so far... Now my 140 is applied and once approved i'm hoping to apply for 3 yr extension...
But if there is no retrogression - why do i need the above 3 yr H1B ?? I believe the point that IV is addressing is the BURNING issue ... " GET RID OF RETROGRESSION" ....

My question is - has anobdy got their cards without getting the CPO e-mail - I have recd the approval notice on 11th in the mail - but I have yet to get the cards also I did not get the CPO e-mail:confused:

Section 205. Retaining Workers Subject to Green Card Backlog.
This section specifies anyone caught in the backlog would be able to pay $500 to adjust status... So your husband is ok (again, should this SKIL ever become reality)
However, I am confused this section 205 falls into Title II, "Retaining Foreign Workers Educated in the United States". Section 205 does not read like anything to do with a degree in the US..

Hmmm, I will have my Masters, but I cannot work, as I cannot get h1 because of the 6th year limit (just like so many h4's). My hubby does not have US Masters, so he will wait in EB3 forever?
Can I slap my Masters to his name so he can proceed faster and I can finally get my EAD..?

I was working on DC but so far just received 30 votes..
Like I said I will talk to core members if only we have 1000 members who wants to do it in DC on July 14th.. So many members are online but they don't even want to take a poll.. I don't know what to expect from members..

That is a good start. We had around 14 people on 07/07 demonstration but it was fun. Thirty is double that. I will keep you posted on what strategy we are following in Bay area. I will also request the Chinese member to post about the local event in DC once we finalize the logistics today evening.

Why did you come here instead of home country ... i came here to do the landing, and thought i'll do the visa stamping as well + Regular employer/ job /education questions ...come back tomorrow to collect the passport

Whoever the lawmaker was who came up with the idea of allocating leftover EB4, EB-5 to EB-1 ! What? the least wanted category giving away its quota to highly deserving EB-1 ? How low can their thinking go ?

The legal reasoning is "Civil Rights Act of 1964" which applies to all individuals employed by a US employer in the US.

This law applies to US resident only. Temp worker (yes, on H1/L1 status, one is Temp Worker from legal point of view) can not claim protection citing this law. Reason: your employment is subject to USCIS regulations. It says right there on your SSN.
